🚨 Missing Boy in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta – Darius Macdougall, 5 – Last Seen September 21, 2025
The Crowsnest Pass RCMP is urgently requesting the public’s assistance in locating Darius Macdougall, a 5-year-old boy who went missing on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He was last seen walking with his siblings approximately 4 kilometres south of Crowsnest Pass near Island Lake Campground, about 150 km west of Lethbridge.
Darius had been camping in the area with his family. He went for a short walk with six of his siblings, but became separated from the group and did not return to the campsite. After searching themselves, his family called 911 at 11:30 a.m., and RCMP immediately deployed Search and Rescue resources.
Sgt. Mark Amatto, detachment commander of Crowsnest Pass RCMP, told reporters the terrain is mountainous and highly technical, with creeks, rivers, and beaver dams complicating the search. Despite this, he said, “The search is a 24-hour search … all resources are in play to bring this little guy home.”
RCMP confirmed Darius has autism, which may prevent him from responding to others, but emphasized he is not non-verbal. This has raised additional concern for his safety. Officials say weather has been favourable for search efforts.
Dozens of personnel are on scene, including RCMP officers, conservation officers, and Search and Rescue teams from both Alberta and British Columbia. The search is supported by drones with thermal imaging, dogs, and helicopters. Peter Alfred of the Southwest Alberta Region SAR Society said they remain “very confident” of finding Darius, stressing that every detail counts in the ongoing operation.
