UPDATE:
A child who was found in a Mississauga park after being reported missing has died in hospital, Peel Regional Police say.
Police said they responded to a call for a missing young child in the area of Erindale Park, near Mississauga Road and Dundas Street at about 5:35 p.m. on Saturday.
In a post on X on Saturday, police said the child had “wandered off” but was located by first responders.
Peel paramedics said they attended the scene, along with police and Mississauga Fire, for reports of a person in the water, and transported one pediatric patient in critical, life-threatening condition to a local hospital.
In an email Sunday, police confirmed that the child has been pronounced dead.
“Due to the sensitive nature of this investigation, there is no further information to provide,” police said in the email.
