🚨 Missing Boy – Adrien McNaughton, 5 – June 12, 1972 – Calabogie, Ontario

Five-year-old Adrien McNaughton disappeared on June 12, 1972, while on a fishing trip with his father, siblings, and a family friend near Holmes Lake, just outside Calabogie, Ontario. Nearly five decades later, his case remains one of the most enduring unsolved disappearances in Canadian history.

Adrien was sitting on a rock after getting frustrated with a tangled fishing line. At some point, he wandered into the nearby woods and was never seen again. It was around 6:00 p.m. when the group realized he was gone. No one saw or heard him leave, and there were no signs of a struggle, accident, or distress.

A massive search followed. The armed forces, local police, and thousands of volunteers scoured the rugged terrain and murky waters around Holmes Lake. Despite the extensive effort, not a single trace of Adrien was found. His sudden disappearance led to countless theories — from an accidental drowning to foul play — but nothing has ever been proven.

Adrien was the fourth of five children in the McNaughton family. Born on November 4, 1966, he was described as shy but energetic. His parents, Murray and Barbara McNaughton, still live in Arnprior, along with several of Adrien’s siblings, though they no longer speak publicly about the case.

The story was thrust back into public consciousness in 2016 thanks to the CBC podcast “Someone Knows Something”, hosted by David Ridgen — a childhood acquaintance of the McNaughtons. The series prompted renewed police efforts, including sonar scans and divers exploring Holmes Lake. A piece of rubber and a potential human tooth were recovered, though no definitive answers followed.

“We believe Adrien is in the lake,” said Ridgen, who still hopes the podcast may generate new leads. Despite no closure, the Ontario Provincial Police say the case remains open, and they continue to accept tips from the public.

🚨 Garçon Disparu – Adrien McNaughton, 5 ans – 12 juin 1972 – Calabogie, Ontario
