The Abbotsford Police Department has received a court order allowing them to identify a 16-year-old male who has gone missing since being released from custody after being charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and robbery.
According to department spokesperson Sgt. Paul Walker, Diego Guevara was charged with the violent offences last September, a month after a 37-year-old woman was found stabbed and in serious medical distress at the intersection of Gladwin Road and South Fraser Way.
Walker said that on Oct. 19, 2022, Guevara was released from custody pending his next court appearance, at which he failed to appear.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on Nov. 9, 2022, however police are not allowed to name a young offender so his details were not released.
Police have now received a court order allowing them to identify Guevara, and are calling on the public to help them find the teen. The court order expires on Jan. 16.
