A man is being sought by authorities in an alleged kidnapping in Scarborough that saw him demand money from one of his employees, Toronto police said.
Investigators were called to the Lawrence Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue area at around 2 a.m. on Jan. 27.
It’s alleged that the victim was asked to accompany a manager to pick up a product while at his place of employment.
Police said the manager drove the victim to the Ellesmere Road and Victoria Park Avenue area, where they picked up three other men.
The victim was then assaulted as he was being driven around and held against his own will. Police said the man was threatened, and the suspects demanded money.
The victim was eventually dropped off and suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the alleged kidnapping.
Police identified the manager as 45-year-old Tan Hoa Tang of Toronto. He’s wanted on several offences, including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm and robbery, among other related charges.
A warrant has been issued for the man’s arrest.
Through the investigation, police said they charged one man, 27-year-old Daelen Livingston Dixon of Toronto, with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. He was expected to appear in court on Jan. 27.
