A man is facing kidnapping charges after an Amber Alert, now cancelled, was issued in Ontario on Monday evening.
Waterloo Regional Police requested an Amber Alert for a 14-year-old girl who went missing in Kitchener, Ont. The alert went out at around 7:15 p.m. Monday.
The force said officers had responded to a residence in the Strasburg Road and Rush Meadow Street for a report of a break-and-enter and a missing teenage girl at around 5:30 p.m.
In just under two hours, an Amber Alert was sent across Ontario. It was cancelled shortly after — less than an hour after the alert was issued.
Waterloo Police said the missing girl was found in Simcoe County by the Ontario Provincial Police.
Investigators have charged a 36-year-old Waterloo man with kidnapping while using a firearm and break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence. Police said additional charges are likely.
Waterloo Police said the victim and the accused are known to each other.
