London police have charged an area man after he tried to snatch a three-year-old girl seated in a vehicle Monday evening.
At about 7:30 p.m. on Victoria Day, the male approached a female and a three-year-old girl who were sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot near Dundas and Adelaide streets.
The man tried to remove the little girl from the vehicle when the older female intervened, police said. She was assaulted by the suspect, who fled.
“The female prevented the child from being removed from the vehicle,” police said in a statement.
The child was not injured in the incident. Her defender suffered minor injuries.
A suspect was arrested a short time later.
Londoner Kyle Williams is charged with resisting arrest, attempting to commit an indictable offence and two counts of assault.
A week ago Monday, police arrested a suspect in connection with a brief child abduction of a four-year-old girl on Mother’s Day in an east-end neighbourhood.
Investigators say witnesses report the girl was playing outside with a sibling when a vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection and man snatched the girl and drove off with her. She was able to escape.
Larry Thompson, 65, was charged last week with multiple offences, including kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor.
