Sadly, the 11 year old girl who was the focus of that amber alert, has been found dead inside a Brampton home.
Shortly afterward, her 41 year old father, Roopesh Rajkumar, was taken into police custody near Orillia.
Peel Police say there were numerous calls to 911 of complaints for the late hour of the Amber Alert.
But Peel Constable Akhil Mooken says the alert directly led to the arrest of the suspect.
“We appreciate and understand that members of the public may have been affected, by the noise and the tones that are provided by the Amber Alert, but we certainly hope they understand that the Amber Alert program is designed for us to locate children that may have been abducted, whether by a parent or some other person, and we sincerely hope they understand the slight inconvenience that this may have caused them,” Mooken explained.
The Amber Alert was issued hours after the girl’s mother phoned police to say her daughter had not been dropped off as scheduled at 6:30pm. The mother reportedly, was concerned her estranged husband might harm their child.
