🚨 Human Remains Linked to Windsor Homicide Found in Northern Ontario
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have discovered human remains in a remote area of Northern Ontario while assisting with an ongoing Windsor homicide investigation. The remains were located off a dirt road near the Trans-Canada Highway, just south of Black River-Matheson Township, approximately one hour east of Timmins.
In a statement released Friday, the OPP said its officers were “conducting an evidence search” in support of the Windsor Police Service (WPS) when they made the discovery. The investigation at the scene remains ongoing, and the remains have been turned over to the appropriate authorities for further examination.
A Windsor police spokesperson confirmed the discovery was made while officers were searching for evidence related to a homicide case, but declined to release further details. “I can confirm that the OPP did locate a body while conducting a search for a WPS homicide investigation. That is all we can share at this time,” the spokesperson said in an email on Monday.
At a press conference held Friday, Staff Sgt. Joe Faddoul of the Windsor Police Service said the OPP’s search was focused on “a wooded area north of Kirkland Lake,” near Bourkes Road — the same vicinity where the remains were later found. “This is obviously in connection with this homicide,” he added.

The discovery is believed to be tied to the investigation into the death of 37-year-old David Pavao of Windsor, who was last seen alive in August 2025. Windsor police have charged two individuals in connection with Pavao’s death, while a third suspect remains at large. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the remains found in Northern Ontario.

Police from both the OPP and Windsor Police Service continue to collaborate on the case. The OPP said further details would be released once the remains are officially identified and next of kin are notified.
