Ontario Provincial Police were called to a property on Mall Road around 5 p.m. New Year’s Eve. A day later, police issued a news release saying only that Oxford OPP and the forensics unit went to the scene.
Police promised further details once they’re available.
Mall Road stretches east from the Tillsonburg Cemetery on the south side of town toward Otterville, ending at Highway 59.
It’s not clear where on the road the remains were found.
Oxford County OPP also are investigating the case of a missing man, 41-year-old James Blakley from South West Oxford, who was last seen Aug. 30 getting into a cab headed toward Tillsonburg.
Police have deemed his disappearance suspicious.
In early November, police searched a home on Verna Drive in Tillsonburg in connection with the case, gathering evidence for “later analysis.”
Anyone with information about Blakley, described as a white man, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds with reddish blond hair, is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
