Human remains found last year positively identified as murdered Halifax teen Devon Marsman

Halifax Regional Police says human remains found last year have been positively identified as those of murdered teenager Devon Sinclair Marsman.

Investigators found the remains in September 2024. They were then sent to the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service for identification.

That month, police confirmed Marsman – who was reported missing in March 2022 – had been the victim of a homicide and the remains were believed to be his.

Investigators received results this week that confirm the remains belonged to Marsman.

Police say the location where his remains were found will not be released at this time as “court proceedings are ongoing.”

3 people previously charged

Three people have been previously charged in connection with the case.

Treyton Marsman, 26, has been charged with:

second-degree murder
indignity to human remains
obstructing justice

Emma Maria Meta Casey, 23, has been charged with:

accessory after the fact to murder
indignity to human remains
obstructing justice

Chelsey Herritt, 26, has been charged with:

accessory after the fact to murder
indignity to human remains

And a 20-year-old man, who was a youth at the time of the murder, has been charged with:

accessory after the fact to murder
obstructing justice
