Police have identified human remains found in Renfrew County last month as those of a missing man from Ottawa who disappeared over two years ago.
Ontario Provincial Police say they were called to the area of Paul Martin Drive in the Township of Laurentian Valley by a local resident after remains were discovered on April 26.
The person has been identified as Diego Sarria. He was last seen in Kanata on Jan. 17, 2023.
Sarria was 54-years-old at the time of his disappearance.
Foul play is not suspected and investigators believe there is no threat to public safety, according to police.
A post-mortem examination has not yet determined his cause of death and further forensic testing is being conducted.
An investigation is ongoing.
