Hamilton Police are warning the public after an attempted child abduction in the area of Jackson Street West and MacNab Street South in Hamilton.
On Sunday, October 1, 2023, at approximately 6:53 p.m., a female suspect approached a four-year-old boy while he was with his mother. The female hugged the boy and then proceeded to walk away with him in her arms. When the mother confronted her, she placed him back on the ground and left the area.
Police arrested the female a short time later. The offender and the victim did not know each other. The child did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Arrested: Simithy Mansaray, 37-years-old from Hamilton
Charge: Abduction of Person Under Age of 14
Given the nature of the incident, Hamilton Police are releasing the suspect’s photo as a matter of public safety. The suspect resides in the Rymal Road area.
