GRANDMOTHER HOPES RCMP WILL FIND MISSING INFANT GRANDDAUGHTER BRAYLEE AFTER MOTHER AYLA EGOTIK-LEARN FOUND DEAD IN ST. ALBERT, ALBERTA

Braylee Still Missing: St. Albert Mother Ayla Egotik-Learn Killed in Domestic Violence — Nine-Month-Old Daughter’s Whereabouts Unknown

Published March 2026

A Nunavut grandmother is pleading for answers after her 23-year-old daughter was found dead in a St. Albert, Alberta apartment — and her nine-month-old granddaughter has not been located.

A Discovery Months Too Late

In late January 2026, the remains of Ayla Egotik-Learn, 23, were discovered in her St. Albert apartment after a property manager conducting an eviction reported a suspicious package inside the unit. RCMP believe Ayla had been dead since early December 2025 — meaning her death went undetected for more than a month.

When investigators searched the apartment, they could not find Ayla’s nine-month-old daughter, Braylee. Braylee has not been located.

A Mother’s Grief

Ayla’s mother, Andrea Egotik, lives in Nunavut. In January, RCMP came to her home to deliver the devastating news. She says her family had no idea anything was wrong because someone was sending text messages impersonating Ayla — including as recently as January 15, 2026.

Andrea says she believes Ayla’s partner was responsible for the messages. She shared texts with media from Christmas and into the new year, showing someone pretending to be her daughter.

Ayla had moved to St. Albert in 2024 after meeting Christopher Beasley at work. The pair had been employed in the kitchen of a mining camp in Goose Lake, Nunavut. Court records indicate the relationship had a history of domestic abuse. In July 2025, Beasley pleaded guilty to assaulting Ayla and received 18 months of probation. He had also been charged twice with threatening to kill Ayla, but both charges were later withdrawn.

RCMP have classified Ayla’s death as a case of domestic violence. Beasley, 33, has been charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a body.

Searching for Braylee

For Andrea, finding Braylee — her “Ingu,” the Inuktitut word for grandchild — is everything. She describes her daughter as overjoyed to have become a mother.

A GoFundMe has been started to help cover urn and cremation costs, as well as flights from Nunavut to Edmonton.

Anyone with information about Braylee’s whereabouts is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment.
