Twenty-four-year-old Tyler Thompson was arrested by Gander RCMP last week in relation to an investigation into an indecent act committed against a youth.
On September 22, 2022, police received the report and started the investigation. A youth, who was walking home from school, had been approached by a man driving a red Dodge Journey. The man, who was naked from the waist down, asked the youth to enter his vehicle. The youth ran away and reported the incident.
On September 29, 2022, Thompson was identified and was arrested. He attended court on Friday and was remanded into custody. He attends court today and is charged with the following criminal offences:
Invitation to sexual touching
Indecent Act (Public nudity)
Exposing genitals for a sexual purpose to person under the age of 16 years
The investigation is continuing. Parents are encouraged to speak to their children about incidents similar to this. Anyone who feels they have been victimized by this type of crime is asked to contact their local police to make a report.

Gander RCMP is seeking assistance from the public in identifying a male who was operating a red Dodge Journey in the area of Morgan Drive on September 22, 2022. The man, who was naked from the waist down, approached a young girl who was walking home from school shortly after 3:00 p.m. and asked her to get into the vehicle. The girl refused to get into the vehicle, ran to a friend’s nearby residence and immediately reported the incident.
Video surveillance obtained from the area identified the vehicle as a red Dodge Journey.
The lone male occupant is described as having long dark colored hair that was covering his face.
The investigation is continuing. Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about what to do in a situation such as this.
