Published March 14, 2026
Four people have been charged in connection with the death of a 62-year-old North Bay man known as Pierre, who had been reported missing since January 30, 2026. The charges — ranging from first-degree murder to indignity to a dead body — follow a months-long investigation by the North Bay Police Service.
From Missing Person to Murder Investigation
Pierre’s disappearance was first reported to North Bay Police in late January. In February, human remains were discovered in the area of Mulligan Street in North Bay. Police subsequently confirmed the remains belonged to Pierre. On March 12, 2026, four individuals were arrested and charged in connection with his death.
Insp. Scott McFarlane stated that the investigation began as a missing person case before evolving into the criminal proceedings now before the courts, and that investigators believe the incident was targeted, with the victim and some of those charged known to one another.
The Charges
A 50-year-old woman from North Bay faces the most serious charges, including first-degree murder, indignity to a dead body, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, extortion, making death threats, and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
A 19-year-old man from North Bay has been charged with first-degree murder, indignity to a dead body, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and forcible confinement.
A 63-year-old man from Sarnia and a 57-year-old man from Mattawa have each been charged with abetting to commit first-degree murder and counselling to commit indignity to a dead body.
Police spokesperson Jennifer Cross confirmed on March 13 that all four remain in custody ahead of a bail hearing.
A Complex Investigation
Acting Deputy Chief Jeff Warner acknowledged the toll this type of investigation takes, noting that these cases are difficult for everyone involved — including officers who worked tirelessly throughout. Warner noted that wellness supports are available for police members, as well as resources for victims, families, and community members who may be affected.
