Family of Missing Alberta Man Carter Rodgers Pleads for Answers as RCMP Investigates Suspicious Disappearance
The family of Carter Rodgers, 20, is desperately searching for answers after the Devon, Alberta man vanished on February 14, 2026 during what was supposed to be his first solo road trip. Two weeks later, his family says they have no leads and no explanation for what happened.
Carter, who grew up in Devon after being born into Lubicon Lake First Nation, set out on Valentine’s Day to drive to Rocky Mountain House to visit a friend β a route he had never taken alone before, having only recently obtained his driver’s licence. At some point during the journey, the family’s blue 2025 Honda Civic left the road and ended up in a ditch. Carter called his mother to let her know, but the call dropped due to poor cell reception and he was never heard from again.
The following day, the vehicle was discovered burned on an oil lease road on O’Chiese First Nation. Carter was nowhere to be found.
“It’s been really hard to just be waiting on anything. We have really no idea how any of this happened. It’s very confusing,” his 18-year-old sister Satira told CTV News Edmonton.
Since his disappearance, Carter’s father has organized multiple search parties in bitterly cold conditions, while an RCMP investigation has been running in parallel. Despite these efforts, the family says no meaningful information has surfaced. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has since taken over the case, with a spokesperson confirming the circumstances are considered suspicious.
“I need to be cognizant that anything I say with regards to suspects or witnesses is also being communicated to those suspects so unfortunately I am unable to elaborate on those parts of the investigation,” Cpl. Troy Savinkoff told CTV News Edmonton.
Satira describes her brother as a well-liked fixture in the Devon community β someone who attended school there, worked various jobs including community service roles, and had recently landed a full-time position with Legend Oilfield Services. He had been saving money to return to school.
“He’s really close to a lot of people in Devon, we’ve grown up there. A lot of people know him by name,” Satira said.
The family is urging anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward. “We just want anyone that has heard anything or seen anything to say something to somebody,” Satira said. “We just know that anything can help, and we don’t have a lot of information.”
