Missing Child in Prince Edward County – Drowning Incident, July 24, 2025

📌 Description

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a tragic drowning incident involving a three-year-old child at Sandbanks Provincial Park in Prince Edward County.

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., emergency services were dispatched to the park after the child went missing while playing in a shallow area of water with family members. The child was quickly located and recovered by bystanders before emergency services arrived on scene.

Despite efforts to resuscitate the child, the victim was sadly pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital by EMS.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, the identity of the victim has not been released.

The OPP extends their thanks to the public for their assistance in this difficult situation.

In such tragic incidents, it is important to always supervise children closely near water. Here are some tips to help prevent similar incidents:

  • Never leave children unattended near water, even in shallow areas.
  • Use flotation devices where appropriate.
  • Be aware of weather conditions and water currents.
  • Consider taking CPR training to be prepared for emergencies.

Enfant Disparu à Prince Edward County – Incident de Noyade, 24 juillet 2025

📌 Description

La Police provinciale de l’Ontario (PPO) enquête sur un incident tragique de noyade impliquant un enfant de trois ans au parc provincial Sandbanks, dans le comté de Prince Edward.

Le jeudi 24 juillet 2025, vers 17 h 30, les services d’urgence ont été appelés au parc après qu’un enfant ait disparu en jouant dans une zone peu profonde avec des membres de sa famille. L’enfant a été rapidement retrouvé et récupéré par des témoins avant l’arrivée des services d’urgence.

Malgré les efforts pour réanimer l’enfant, la victime a été malheureusement déclarée décédée après avoir été transportée à l’hôpital par les paramédics.

Par respect pour la vie privée de la famille, l’identité de la victime n’a pas été divulguée.

La PPO remercie le public pour son aide dans cette situation difficile.

  • Ne laissez jamais les enfants sans surveillance près de l’eau, même dans des zones peu profondes.
  • Utilisez des dispositifs de flottaison lorsque cela est approprié.
  • Soyez attentif aux conditions météorologiques et aux courants d’eau.
  • Envisagez de suivre une formation en RCR pour être préparé aux urgences.
