🚨 Missing Woman Since June 21, 2002 – Prince George, BC

Cold Case: Nicole Hoar, a 24-year-old woman from Red Deer, Alberta, disappeared on June 21, 2002, while hitchhiking along the notorious Highway of Tears near Prince George, British Columbia. She had been working as a tree planter in the area and was on her way to visit her sister in Smithers, BC.

Nicole was last seen at a gas station at 5952 Gauthier Road, wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, brown-green capri pants, and velcro-strap sandals with navy blue, grey, and black swirls. She carried a purple-toned backpack from Mountain Equipment Coop and wore bronze octagon-shaped prescription glasses.

The search for Nicole was extensive. Over the years, police have received nearly 450 reported sightings and have conducted major searches, including a rural property search linked to a man convicted of a separate homicide shortly after Nicole vanished. Despite these efforts, no confirmed trace of Nicole has been found.

Her case brought national attention to the Highway of Tears — a stretch of Highway 16 where many women and girls, particularly Indigenous, have gone missing or been murdered. Nicole’s disappearance helped amplify those cases and the need for action.
