🚨 Missing Woman in Prince George, British Columbia – Anita Florence Thorne, 49 – Last Seen November 19, 2014
The Prince George RCMP is renewing its appeal to the public for assistance in the disappearance of Anita Florence Thorne, 49, who went missing on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. This case remains unsolved and is considered an ongoing investigation.
Anita was last seen that morning at the Super Save Gas Station at 950 Victoria Street, and later at the adjoining Tim Horton’s. That evening at approximately 8:15 p.m., Anita was reported missing when she failed to return home and could not be located by family or friends.
On Thursday, November 20, 2014, her 2013 black Ford Escape was discovered abandoned at the Willow River rest area, approximately 35 km east of Prince George along Highway 16. The vehicle was unlocked, and Anita’s purse was visible inside with nothing apparently missing. Investigators believe Anita still had her keys, cigarettes, lighter, and cell phone with her at the time. Repeated attempts to call her phone went unanswered.
RCMP immediately launched an extensive search. A police service dog and handler searched the area by ground, while an RCMP aircraft searched from the air. The Prince George Search & Rescue Society was called out through the Provincial Emergency Program to conduct a more thorough search of the Willow River rest stop area. Despite four days of intensive searching by ground and air, no sign of Anita was found. At the time, investigators indicated there was no evidence of foul play, but her disappearance remains unexplained.
To this day, no leads have emerged in the case. Anita’s family, her partner Roger Balsom, and her many friends continue to appeal for answers and are desperate to bring her home. Organizations including the Tears to Hope Society and other community advocates have worked to keep her case visible in hopes of finding closure.
