🚨 Cold Case: Disappearance of Yanick Fortin, 6, from Matawin, Quebec – May 11, 1991
On the morning of May 11, 1991, Yanick Fortin, a 6-year-old boy, was last seen playing alone in the backyard of his family home in Matawin, Quebec. The yard overlooked the Saint-Maurice River. The family cat, which always followed Yanick, disappeared at the same time. His father speculated the cat may have been near the river and Yanick fell in while trying to retrieve it.
An extensive search involving over 150 mostly volunteer searchers, helicopters, tracking dogs, all-terrain vehicles, and police divers scoured the surrounding woods and river – but no trace of Yanick or the cat was ever found. The case remains unsolved more than 34 years later.
