🚨 Missing Woman – Jane Smith, 20, Sudbury, Ontario – Last Seen August 9, 1975
SUDBURY, ON – This month marks 50 years since the disappearance of Jane Smith, a 20-year-old Laurentian University student and aspiring social worker who vanished from her basement apartment in Sudbury, Ontario.
Jane was last seen in the early morning hours of August 9, 1975, by her roommate at their Charlotte Street apartment. Nothing was taken from her room except the clothing she was wearing, and her bank accounts have remained untouched since that day.
Her family describes the past five decades as “devastating,” especially for Jane’s now 91-year-old mother, who still lives without answers. “Losing is one thing, never knowing is another,” said Jane’s niece, Katie Smith, adding that closure has been their greatest wish.
Jane’s loved ones remember her as bubbly, always smiling, and eager to help others. She had been active in student council, volunteered for numerous causes, and was working at a Canadian Tire store that summer. “She was a real go-getter,” her brother John recalls. “Somebody who wanted to make a difference.”
The Smith family believes someone out there knows what happened and is urging anyone with even the smallest detail to come forward. “Before we lose any more information, we’d like to get some back,” said Jane’s other niece, Jennifer Smith. The family is also seeking stories from people who knew Jane so they can better preserve her memory.
