Police in the City of Kawartha Lakes have confirmed that a young child reported missing from a school playground was safely located after a rapid search effort and public alert. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the incident shortly before noon on October 17, 2025, after receiving a report of a suspected abduction at Dunsford District Elementary School in Verulam Township.
According to investigators, the report came in at approximately 11:37 a.m. when it was discovered that a primary school-aged child had been taken from the playground during recess. Police immediately launched an emergency response, using social media alerts to circulate information about the suspect vehicle.
