A follow-up to a story reported on Wednesday regarding a missing 6-year-old child.
Over the lunch hour, St. Thomas Police received a call from a motorist who had pulled over in the area of Southdale Line and Fairview Avenue with tire issues. They reported that their child had wandered away while they were attempting repairs.
With the help of Elgin OPP, the child was found safe about an hour later at park near where they lived.
While speaking with the driver, officers determined the child had not been with the parent when the 911 call was received.
Additionally, officers observed signs of impairment, leading to the driver’s arrest.
The 38-year-old individual has been charged with impaired operation and obstruct police.
