🚨 Suspect in Brampton Fatal Shooting and Alleged Child Abduction Dead After Police Shooting in Niagara Falls
The suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Brampton and the Amber Alert abduction of a one-year-old child has died after an officer-involved shooting in Niagara Falls, Ontario, police confirmed Wednesday morning.
According to the Niagara Regional Police Service, officers located 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper inside a vehicle at a gas station near Thorold Stone Road and Montrose Road at approximately 2:30 a.m. on October 22, 2025.
Police said the Emergency Task Unit responded to the scene, and during an interaction with officers, Deschepper was pronounced dead. No officers were injured. The scene remains secured as investigators continue to gather evidence.
📍 Connection to Fatal Brampton Shooting and Amber Alert
Deschepper had been the subject of a province-wide search following a fatal shooting in Brampton on Tuesday afternoon. Around 2 p.m., officers were called to a plaza parking lot near Queen Street East and Airport Road, where a woman had been shot and killed.
Police said Deschepper allegedly fled the scene in a black 2024 Nissan Kicks with a Quebec licence plate FRV4520. His one-year-old child was in the back seat at the time, prompting a province-wide Amber Alert around 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The child was safely located later that evening after reportedly being dropped off with family members. Police confirmed the Amber Alert was cancelled once the child’s safety was verified.
🚔 Investigation and SIU Involvement
Const. Mandeep Khatra told reporters Tuesday that police believed the shooting was intimate partner-related, though investigators were still determining the exact circumstances. The identity of the deceased woman has not been released by authorities.
Following the shooting, police received information suggesting Deschepper had fled toward the Niagara Region. A temporary shelter-in-place order was issued Tuesday evening in the Crystal Beach area but was later lifted once the immediate threat subsided.
Niagara police confirmed that Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has now invoked its mandate to investigate the officer-involved shooting. Due to the SIU’s involvement, police said they are unable to release further details about the circumstances surrounding Deschepper’s death.
