It’s a tragic end to a months-old mystery.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP confirmed Tuesday morning that the human remains discovered in the Ottawa River south of Pembroke Thursday are those of 16-year-old Trinity Poil.
She was reported missing to military police at Garrison Petawawa in February.
On Friday, the OPP said that the remains appeared to have been submerged for some time and that the families of two girls — the second is a 17-year-old who plunged off a railway bridge in Petawawa May 5 — had been notified of the discovery.
Poil was last seen when she went to bed on Feb. 12, the night of the region’s worst snowstorm of the year. In March, her family marked her 17th birthday without her.
