Northern Rockies RCMP have provided an update on the hiker who went missing near the Sikanni Chief area, and are asking for further information from the public.
Sam Benastick was reported missing by family on October 19th, following his failure to return from a hiking trip in Redfern Kiely Park as planned on October 17th. He last checked in with family on October 8th.
In an update, RCMP stated that investigators have determined that Benastick was last known to be at the trailhead in the Redfern Lake trail area on his red Honda dirt bike.
Benastick reportedly had a large 85-litre black Osprey backpack, a tarp, and other camping supplies when he departed on his camping trip.
Northern Rockies RCMP are still seeking any and all information available from members of the public, and are now asking individuals who saw someone riding a similar red dirt bike.
