Provincial police in Midland say they are investigating an attempted abduction after a teenage girl was allegedly assaulted by an unknown male.

According to police, the alleged incident happened March 14 between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. near the intersection of Maxwell Avenue and Christine Drive.

Police say a clean-shaven, white man with a large build, wearing a red and black baseball cap, puffy black jacket and jeans approached the girl in a small four-door silver car.

“The unknown male attempted to gain control of the victim and force her into the suspect vehicle,” OPP stated.

They say he drove off at a high rate of speed in an unknown direction.

Investigators encourage anyone with information, dash camera footage or video surveillance to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or via email. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
