A missing Carleton Place man has been located deceased.
The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began searching for Matthew, 52, on January 20, 2024.
The OPP said he was last seen two days earlier in Carleton Place.
His remains were found in the Mississippi River on Sunday, May 12, and it appears he had been in the water since he disappeared.
A post-mortem examination has determined no signs of foul play, which means the OPP will release no further details.
In a post to the Facebook group called Bring Matthew Home, his sister says the family is seeking donations to help lay Matthew to rest in the way that he deserves.
If you would like to contribute, you can do so by e-transfer: bringmathewhome@hotmail.com.
A GoFundMe has also been set up, where his sister described Matthew as a free spirit who is now at peace. https://www.gofundme.com/f/mathew-is-home
