🚨 $10,000 Reward Offered in Search for Missing Derek Ritz – Nine Years Since Disappearance
January 1, 2026 – The Stratford Police Service is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the confirmed whereabouts of Derek Ritz and the closure of this case; and/or the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible.
Derek Ritz, born June 6, 1965, was reported missing to the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police on January 7, 2017. He was last seen at a residence in the Village of Sebringville in the Township of Perth South on December 31, 2016, around 1:00 a.m.
The investigation was transferred to the Stratford Police Service on April 9, 2019, from the Perth County OPP. Since April 9, 2019, the Stratford Police Service has conducted an exhaustive investigation into the disappearance of Derek Ritz, including interviewing over 100 potential witnesses and conducting extensive searches of various properties throughout the area.
“The recovery of Derek Ritz remains an utmost priority to the Stratford Police Service”, says Acting Deputy Chief Mark Taylor, adding “It has been nine years since his disappearance. We would like to provide closure to all who were close to Mr. Ritz, and recognize the impact his disappearance has had on the greater community”.
The Stratford Police is offering this $10,000 reward to any individual who provides information that results in the confirmed whereabouts of Derek Ritz and the closure of this case; and/or the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible. Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is urged to contact the Stratford Police Service. Investigators remain committed to seeking the truth and bringing resolution to this matter.
