A 10-year-old child from Coldbrook was found dead early Sunday morning after failing to return from an ATV ride in Canaan.
Yarmouth Rural RCMP responded to a missing child report just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday after the youngster, who was visiting the area with family, had left a house on an ATV earlier in the evening and hadn’t come home.
At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, officers located the deceased child, and the all-terrain vehicle they were driving was found in a ditch along Plymouth Gentian Road in Gavelton, Yarmouth County.
RCMP didn’t say if the child was a boy or girl.
The provincial medical examiner is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
