The body of a woman missing from Prince Albert since Dec. 9 has been found in a wooded area in the RM of Buckland, according to the RCMP. Joanne Highway’s body was discovered Sunday after police got a report that human remains had been found. Officers from the Prince Albert detachment attended the scene, along with officers from RCMP Forensic Identification Services and representatives from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
While foul play is not suspected in Highway’s death, the investigation is ongoing, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service is working with the RCMP to determine the cause of death. “Pending final results of the autopsy and toxicology, preliminary indication is that no foul play is suspected in relation to Joanne’s death,” the RCMP said in a statement.
The victim’s family has been notified of her death, and victim services have been made available. “Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time,” the RCMP added.
