Warman RCMP are investigating a possible abduction after a 12-year-old boy was reported missing earlier this week.
Police received a call around 9:15 p.m. on May 23 about a boy wandering on a range road northwest of Warman. After the initial call, dispatch received another report of the same youth missing from a playground.
Officers located the youth and took him to hospital. He was released shortly afterward.
Investigators are now asking for the public to report any suspicious activity, especially in and around the Prairie Oasis park or playground area at Rigmor St. and Third Ave. S. The clean-fill disposal site on Range Road #3051 is another area of police interest.
Police are also looking to ask the drivers and occupants of two pick-up trucks if they witnessed anything. The vehicles were noticed on the range road around that time. One truck was red and the other was white.
The Saskatoon Forensic Identification Section along with the RCMP Police Dog Section will be assisting the investigation.
Anyone who may have noticed unusual activity or anyone with surveillance systems in the areas of the suspected incident on May 23 is urged to immediately contact the Warman detachment at 306-975-1670, 310-RCMP or a local detachment.
Parents are encouraged to speak with their children and review safety precautions which include being aware of surrounding and noticing suspicious people or vehicles. Children are encouraged to report suspicions to teachers, parents and other trusted adults.
Children who are listening to music are advised to listen through one bud only in order to hear traffic, people, dogs or other hazards.
Police say parents should advise children to not approach a vehicle if they do not know its occupants and avoid talking to strangers.
If possible, have children walk with a friend and stick to sidewalks along busy streets instead of cutting through alleys or parks.
