A Vancouver man who was arrested last month in connection with an Amber Alert for a missing child is facing new charges after his arrest last week outside a private community centre.

Court records show Davis Lim was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting or obstructing a police officer and breaching an undertaking on April 4.

A statement Monday from the Vancouver Police Department says Lim was arrested “after returning to the scene of an alleged child abduction.”

Police were called to a Westcoast Family Centre location around 9 a.m. that day after receiving reports that Lim was breaching the conditions of his March 13 release, when he had been taken into custody following an Amber Alert for a two-year-old child who was allegedly abducted, according to the statement.

“The suspect was in the company of three other adults and several children,” police said. “The group appeared to be engaged in a protest.”

The department says Lim resisted arrest and assaulted an officer outside the community centre.

“He was taken to jail, charged with multiple offences, and later released by the court,” the statement said, adding that the conditions of his release bar him from attending any Ministry of Children and Family Development office in B.C.

Lim’s next scheduled court appearance is April 24 in Vancouver provincial court.
