🚨 Missing Woman – Lia Smith, 21 – Last Seen in Middlebury, Vermont on October 17, 2025
The Middlebury Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Lia Smith, a 21-year-old student at Middlebury College who was reported missing on October 19, 2025. She was last seen two days earlier on Friday, October 17, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m. inside a campus building. Lia is a senior from California, double majoring in computer science and statistics, and is a former member of the school’s women’s swimming and diving team.
Her disappearance has caused deep concern within the Middlebury community. According to the college’s administration, officials have been in contact with Lia’s family and friends to gather information about her recent activities and provide support during the search.
Police say the investigation remains active and ongoing. So far, search efforts have included the use of an Unmanned Aircraft System (drone) to cover large areas around campus and nearby regions. Investigators are working to identify additional locations that may require further examination as the search expands.
Authorities report that Lia’s father filed a missing person report after not hearing from his daughter by phone, which was unusual for her. The case, listed under number 25MB004323, continues to be a high priority for Middlebury Police and collaborating agencies.
