A mom and dad kidnapped at gunpoint in front of their five underaged kids have been rescued from what Texas police say was a “targeted” abduction.
Samantha Esquivel-Zuniga, 38, and Ricky Zuniga, 37 were taken by force from their San Antonio home Wednesday morning by several armed gunman who loaded them into a waiting SUV as their five young children watched in horror.
“The detectives, through their investigation, quickly realized that this was a targeted kidnapping; it wasn’t a random act,” Sgt. Washington Moscoso of the San Antonio Police Department said Thursday.
“It wasn’t just these individuals picked a house. This was a targeted aggravated kidnapping to this particular family. At no point during this instance was the general public in any kind of danger.”
Police refused to name the motive for the crime.
