đš Boy Safely Rescued from Monorail Tracks at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania
A young boy was safely rescued from the monorail tracks at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania after wandering off from his parents.
The child had been reported missing at around 5:05 p.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 30, after being separated from his mother, a Hersheypark spokesperson told PEOPLE.
It was later discovered that the child had snuck into the monorail station, which was not in operation at the time. He stayed in the area for 20 minutes, before climbing onto the monorail tracks.
âThe ride was closed and safeguarded by a chained closure at the entrance and barricaded turnstile at the platform,â the Hersheypark spokesperson said.
âOur team members immediately responded after he was spotted on the tracks, and at approximately 5:28 p.m., the child was safely reunited with his family. He was unharmed,â the representative added.
In a video posted on YouTube, the boy appeared to be confused while walking along the tracks, constructed high above the ground at the amusement park, as a group of visitors watched from below.
The theme park guests could be seen waving their arms at the child, motioning for him to walk along the tracks towards the direction of a nearby building.
A man was also seen standing on the roof of the structure with his arms outstretched towards the boy.
âGo to him now!â one person could be heard shouting, before the man on the roof jumped onto the tracks and picked up the boy, leading to cheers from the crowd below.
âWe are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark,â the spokesperson for the amusement park told PEOPLE.
