The Saskatoon Police Service Major Crime Section, has positively identified human remains located near St. Louis, Saskatchewan.
Megan Michelle Gallagher has been confirmed as the deceased, and the victim of a homicide.
The SPS Public Safety Unit, along with several government and civilian agencies organized and took part in a search for Megan Gallagher on September 29th, 2022. Human remains were discovered at approximately 2:30 p.m. that day. The SPS wishes to thank everyone who participated in the search for Megan, as well as members of the general public, the media, and the Gallagher family for their assistance during this investigation.

Following the first of what was planned to be four days of searching for Megan Gallagher, human remains have been recovered.
The SPS Major Crime Section coordinated the search of the South Saskatchewan River following consultation with Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Ernie Walker and officials from the Water Security Agency. Assistance was also provided by a number of civilian search and rescue personnel, members of the Provincial Protective Services, along with purpose-trained K9 teams from the Calgary Police Service.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. today searchers on the river near the community of St. Louis located human remains. The SPS Forensic Identification Unit will be processing the scene and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service has been notified. Testing will be conducted to determine identity.
