On the morning of August 28, 1973, 36-year-old Amelie McArthur was seen driving away from her home in Taylor, British Columbia. She was wearing a gold wedding band, a gold eternity ring, copper/rust coloured pants and a blue shirt. It is unknown where she was going that day, or if anybody saw her after she left her house.
Later that day, her car was found abandoned on the Taylor Bridge, which is part of the Alaska Highway in northeastern B.C.
The car was still running. The lights were on, and the driver’s side door was open.
Few details are available about Amelie McArthur and her strange disappearance. She used several aliases, including Molley Davis, Molley Steiner and Molly Elizabeth McArthur, and she may have been married. She wore false teeth and had a mole on her chest, a 4-inch scar on her abdomen and a scar on her left wrist. There is no vehicle description available.
Did Amelie leave her vehicle on the bridge intentionally, or did somebody else?
If she abandoned her vehicle willingly, it doesn’t explain why she would she leave it in a hurried state – running, with the door open and the lights on.
There is a possibility Amelie ended her life that day. If she did, her body has never been found. There have been no clues about Amelie McArthur’s fate since she vanished 47 years ago.
