On April 25, 2018 the Zapp Family thought it to be a day like any other. However, that day would alter their family unit forever. The youngest of their children, Kevin Christopher Zapp born on August 26, 1985 would leave to visit a friend, never to return again. Kevin was 32 at the time of his disappearance. He loved life, music and above all his family. He had been preparing for the better part of a year to perform a concert. He was very tedious with the personal details of making sure it was a show that nobody would forget. He even design an outfit and payed for it with his hard-earned money working at GFL… he was so excited! He had big things to look forward to !!!
His father Paul, mother Diane, sisters Paula, Laura and brothers Matt and Paul Junior, would now have to begin a frantic search. One where time was against them at every corner. One that would yield zero answers. No matter where they turned, or who they talked to, Kevin had just disappeared.
On April 27th 2019 a year and 2 days later, remains were found less than 5 minutes from Kevin’s home. On May 2, 2019 police confirmed that it was in fact Kevin. With no discernable cause of death. Due to lack of evidence or “obvious signs of foul play” the police have closed the case with a ruling of; Unknown cause.
For his family this has been a year long nightmare which has only left them with broken hearts and a million questions. Kevin’s sister Paula has been unable to work since his disappearance as she has focused all of her energy on trying to find her brother. His brother Paul Jr. who up until his disappearance, worked side by side with Kevin has over the course of the year, found it difficult to focus on work. His parents and brother Matt have tried to focus on jobs while trying to deal with the reality of the situation. Laura has had to remain focused on her own family and household as well as manage through this tragedy. Now,not only is this family left to figure out what life looks like without its youngest member, they need to figure out how to cover funeral costs and burial fees. I have set up this go fund me campaign in the hopes that we as a community can come together for the Zapp family. They have been through enough. Their last worry should be how they will pay for the burial of their son and brother. Funeral costs and burial expenses can be quite expensive.
If each one of us could contribute just a few dollars, we can give this family the freedom to mourn, without the financial stress of burying Kevin, so that they may come to terms with the tragic outcome of his untimely death. We can appreciate that times are tough for everyone but every little bit would help this family through this horrific time.
This fund has been started with permission from the Zapp Family and all funds will go directly to them.
