🚨 Stepfather of Missing Sullivan Children Arrested on Assault Charges – Nova Scotia
The RCMP has confirmed the arrest of Daniel Martell, 34, the stepfather of missing Nova Scotia children Jack Sullivan, 5, and Lilly Sullivan, 6, on charges unrelated to the children’s disappearance.
Martell was arrested on Monday at approximately 11:30 a.m. and is facing charges including assault, forcible confinement, and sexual assault involving an adult victim.
Jack and Lilly were last seen on May 2, 2025, in Lansdowne Station, Nova Scotia. Their mother contacted emergency services after reporting the children had wandered away from their rural home.
What followed was an extensive search effort lasting several months. RCMP confirmed that a child’s T-shirt, a blanket, and a tricycle were located during searches, but investigators determined these items were not connected to the children’s disappearance. Cadaver dogs were also deployed, however no leads were discovered.
Recently unsealed court documents described aspects of the relationship between Martell and the children’s mother, including allegations of past physical conflict. Martell has denied these claims.
Police also confirmed that multiple polygraph tests were conducted as part of the investigation, including with Martell, the children’s mother, and the biological father. All were assessed as truthful. The biological father has reportedly not had contact with the children for approximately three years.
In October 2025, RCMP reiterated that the investigation into Jack and Lilly’s disappearance is not believed to be criminal in nature. A $50,000 reward remains in place for information leading to locating the children.
