🚨 Missing Woman in Comox Valley, British Columbia – Ashley Bosma, 40 – Last Seen Camping Near Comox Lake
Search and Rescue crews are continuing to search through the rugged terrain around Comox Lake for 40-year-old Ashley Bosma, who was last seen camping in the area earlier this week. The search entered its third day on Saturday as teams expanded their efforts across the backcountry and remote trails.
According to the Comox Valley RCMP, Ashley was last seen on Tuesday while camping near Comox Lake. When she did not return home, her family reported her missing on Thursday, prompting an immediate response from search and rescue teams. Crews from both Comox Valley and Campbell River Search & Rescue units have since joined the coordinated operation.
“The subject was last seen in this area, and so we are working off that,” said Gord Thompson from Comox Valley Search & Rescue. Teams are using ground crews, search dogs, and specialized equipment to navigate the dense forest and mountainous terrain that surround the lake.
🌲 A Challenging Search Area
The terrain around Comox Lake is known to be particularly difficult, with steep slopes, dense brush, and no cell service in much of the area. Local outdoor enthusiasts familiar with the region have been assisting with the search, volunteering their time and expertise to cover trails and back roads.
“It’s a very rugged area—you have to use a radio if you have one. No cell service of course,” said Kenton Graves, a Comox Valley resident who has been keeping an eye out for any sign of Ashley while exploring the back roads. “A friend of ours went missing here once and never got found, so it’s a bit concerning.”
Johnny Shaw, caretaker of the Comox Valley Fish and Game Club, said he has also been helping to look for Ashley every day. “I’m worried, yes, of course. I’m not sure where she could be. I’m hoping for the best for her and her family,” he said. Despite rain and rough weather on Saturday, Shaw added that temperatures had not yet dropped too low, offering some hope that she could still be found safe.
“I survey basically our entire 185 acres,” Shaw explained. “If she was out here, in our area, I would have come across her. We’re a community, a family—you know, whatever you want to call it. We’re here.”
