The search continues for a missing Nanaimo man who was last seen earlier this week.
On Thursday, Nanaimo RCMP said they were looking for 60-year-old Charles Bey, who was last seen at his Nanaimo home around 6 p.m. on April 2.
On Friday, the Nanaimo Search and Rescue team was in the Cassidy area, south of Nanaimo, searching for Bey and his vehicle, a grey, 2015 Ford F150 with extra cab and matching canopy, with B.C. licence plate MG5152.
Dave Stewart, search manager with Nanaimo SAR, says they were in the area searching local waterways because Bey is an avid fisherman.
“We have reason to believe he is generally in this area,” Stewart told CHEK News. “We have a cellphone ping in this general area.”
“At this point we’re trying to locate his vehicle so we can narrow him down and we have some concern for his safety,” said Stewart.
