RCMP urged Yellowknife residents and businesses to check recordings made on security cameras or dashcams as they continue the search for a 60-year-old woman missing for almost two weeks.

Sladjana Petrovic was last seen on Boxing Day in Yellowknife’s downtown. Search and rescue teams are patrolling the city and police investigators are “working around the clock,” RCMP said on Monday afternoon.

Val Braden, a friend of Petrovic, said last week her disappearance was out of character.

“It’s very unusual, we can’t understand it,” Braden said on Friday. “She has a routine that she loves and she does the same things every week.”

On Monday, police said they had uncovered some new information about Petrovic’s last known movements – including a new image of her, taken on Christmas Day.

In the image, Petrovic is wearing a dark blue jacket, pink or red shirt, dark pants, and running shoes. Police believe she was wearing the same clothes when she was last seen a day later.

“The investigation confirms that Sladjana was last seen at approximately 3:40 pm on December 26, leaving her apartment building on 53 Street and walking toward Franklin Avenue,” said police in a statement.

RCMP reiterated their description of Petrovic, who is said to be a 5 ft 7 in Caucasian woman weighing 257 lbs with shoulder-length salt-and-pepper hair and blue eyes.

Police also asked people to check footage from recording devices like Nest doorbell cameras, which may have picked up Petrovic’s movements.

“Investigators continue to canvass the area, as residences and businesses in the downtown area surrounding 53 Street may have video footage from security cameras, Nest cams and vehicle dashcams,” said RCMP.

“Residents are asked to review their footage between the hours of 3pm and midnight on December 26, 2019 and provide police with any sightings.”

Residents were also told to check back yards and outbuildings for anything unusual.

“Sladjana has been known to visit Calgary and Edmonton in the past,” police added, saying partner agencies in Alberta had been enlisted to help.

However, as yet there are no new confirmed sightings.

“Our investigators continue to work around the clock to locate Ms Petrovic. We are concerned for her well-being and any pieces of information can assist, so please contact us with any information you may have,” said Inspector Alex Laporte, the Yellowknife detachment commander, in a statement.

“Our investigators are following every possible lead.”

Anyone with information on Petrovic’s whereabouts can contact either the Yellowknife RCMP detachment at 867-669-1111 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
