Halifax Regional Police have concluded their search of Kearney Lake for a child reported missing Thursday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to Kearney Lake Beach at around 12:15 p.m.
Police said a 5-year-old girl had been playing at the beach near Hamshaw Drive before she went missing.
“She had been seen on the beach a few minutes before a bystander called to report that she was no longer at the beach,” HRP said in a news release.
An extensive search of the lake along with the surrounding neighbourhood came up empty and police say there is no evidence of foul play.
In addition, no parent or guardian has come forward to file a missing persons report.
Police say they are still investigating the incident and anyone with information is asked to call them at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
The girl is described as white, under 4 feet tall with a slim build and shoulder-length hair.
She was wearing a dark peach/maroon one-piece bathing suit.
Police say she left behind a pair of denim shorts with pink and green embroidery, a blue t-shirt with “Let’s go Ninja” written on it, a pair of swim goggles and a single key.
