A new search is happening for a three-year-old boy who disappeared in Truro just over five years ago.
On May 31-June 1, an organization called Please Bring Me Home is conducting a search for Dylan Ehler. They are asking for volunteers from the public to help with the search effort.
“We’ve been involved in supporting Dylan Ehler’s family since pretty much the onset of his disappearance, but we’ve never been able to conduct a physical search because we didn’t really have the information to assist,” said Nick Oldrieve, executive director of Please Bring Me Home.
“We feel confident that we have enough information to conduct a search in, you know, in areas that maybe follow a different theory than the river.”
The organization was established in 2018 with a mission to prioritize historic missing persons cases. They have been successful in helping locate 70 people across Canada, sometimes even in the U.S, added Oldrieve.
Ehler was last seen on May 6, 2020, playing outside his grandmother’s house on Elizabeth Street.
Following his disappearance, a six-day search was conducted. The only item that searchers found was a pair of the boy’s boots in Lepper Brook, a creek near the grandmother’s house that feeds into Salmon River. Police believe that Ehler fell into Lepper Brook.
The investigation is still active, and Truro police continue to follow up on any credible information or leads that they receive.
