Police in Langley and Surrey are renewing their pleas for information about a woman who has now been missing for more than a year.
Kristina Ward, now 21, was reported missing by her Abbotsford family on Sept. 25, 2017.
““All information is very important to the police in finding the whereabouts of our child,” said her mother, Lee Anne Ward. “Even the smallest information one may consider it as not of any importance may very well be the vital tip, allowing the police in solving and bringing Kristina home to us.”
Now new billboards with photos of Ward are going up in Surrey, and the RCMP is again asking people to watch a video that contains the last known sighting of the missing young woman.
She was last seen in video recorded in Surrey at 144th Street and 104th Avenue on Sept. 27, between 7:50 and 8:45 p.m. That date also marks the last time Ward used her cell phone or her bank accounts were accessed, said Cpl. Holly Largy, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.
So far, a number of tips have come in, but none have led to Ward, Largy said.
Before her disappearance, Ward was known to frequent the downtown Langley City core, and local officers headed up the missing persons investigation in cooperation with Surrey RCMP and Abbotsford Police.
Officers are still trying to identify the man seen in the video with Ward. Anyone who recognizes his gait or mannerisms is being asked to call the Langley RCMP or CrimeStoppers.
Ward is described as 5’5” tall, weighs 130 pounds and has curly brown hair and brown eyes.
When she first went missing, officers described her as a “high risk” missing person. She suffers seizures without access to medication, and she was known to be very trusting and to act younger than her age.
A year ago, her family pleaded for people to come forward.
“Somebody knows something,” said Kristina’s grandmother, Geraldine Silva.
“She’s a loving girl, and she needs help,” her mother said.
