The 16-year-old boy whose body was discovered in a farmer’s field in St-Zotique this week had left a youth centre in Prévost before he was reported as missing near the end of last month.

While the boy’s body was discovered on Monday, the Sûreté du Québec had difficulty identifying the homicide victim. On Wednesday, they released an image of the 16-year-old boy’s face as well as photos of his tattoos and asked for the public’s help in identifying him. Hours later, the SQ issued a second release saying they were able to identify the boy.

The Gazette has learned that Isaiah Leopold Roach left the Batshaw youth centre without permission in March.

On March 29, the SQ issued a release saying that Roach was missing and asked for the public’s help as they tried to locate him. The SQ reported that Roach was last seen just before noon on March 26 at the Côte-Vertu métro station in the St-Laurent borough. When the SQ issued a statement about his disappearance, they said his relatives had reason to fear for his safety.
