🚨 Update – Located Deceased: Mahadi Redwan, 23 – Nanaimo, British Columbia
The Nanaimo RCMP have confirmed that Mahadi Redwan, a 23-year-old man who was reported missing earlier this month, has been found deceased. His death is now being investigated as a criminal matter.
Redwan’s body was discovered on November 12, 2025, near the southbound lanes of Highway 19A between Turner Road and Mostar Road. Police believe the incident leading to his death occurred in the same area around 8:15 p.m. on November 2, the night he was last seen.
According to investigators, Mahadi Redwan was last captured on surveillance footage at the Thrifty Foods on Turner Road at approximately 8:00 p.m. on November 2. He had plans to travel to Courtenay later that night, but when a colleague arrived to pick him up, he was not at home. His family reported him missing on November 5, 2025, expressing that the disappearance was out of character.
RCMP closed one southbound lane of Highway 19A on Wednesday afternoon as part of their investigation. At the time, police did not disclose details but later confirmed the closure was related to the search for Redwan.
The Nanaimo RCMP have since stated that the death is being treated as a criminal investigation, but they believe it to be an isolated incident with no risk to public safety.

Police are asking anyone who was traveling through the area of Highway 19A between Turner Road and Mostar Road around 8:15 p.m. on November 2, 2025, to contact investigators. Drivers with dashcam footage from that night are urged to come forward.
