Darcy Brian TURNER was reported missing on June 20, 2011. TURNER, who was 55-years-old when he went missing, had gone into the Stein Valley park near Lytton, BC on June 4. TURNER was on a Vision Quest; a traditional journey he had done for five years.
Turner had made plans to be picked up at the completion of his excursion on June 19, 2011, but failed to return.
Lytton RCMP Detachment and volunteer searchers completed a six-day search which included two helicopters, search dog team and thirty-five volunteers. The trail is challenging and off-trail travel is virtually impossible due to blow-down, flooding, high water and steep terrain.
Police located and spoke with two people who saw TURNER at the start of his quest, but there have been no reported sightings of him since.
TURNER is described as
- Metis
- Between 5’ 7 – 5’ 11
- 160 – 200 pounds
- Brown eyes
- Thinning shoulder length grey hair
- Unshaven
TURNER was possibly wearing a blue and black jacket, an orange t-shirt, khaki pants, blue-grey baseball cap, and hiking boots. He may have had may have a blue backpack with a sleeping bag attached and a small blue tarp.
This remains an active investigation and police have actively pursued every investigative lead; however, we have been unable to locate TURNER or determine what may have happened. Anyone with information on this is asked to contact the Lytton RCMP at 250 455-2225.
